A thorough Google news search will help you find out exactly what is happening at that particular school. Is it scandal ridden? Does it have a new dean every few years? Are students suing the school? Stand alone law schools deserve your special attention because of all of these questions.

Thus, from something as simple as a Google news search you will have armed yourself with very important and valuable information. Keep copies of what you find and build folders for each of the school's you are pursuing. Be sure to send away for school's catalogs early enough to give you plenty of time to weigh all your options. Put these catalogs in the same folders. This will make your planning and ultimate decision making process a lot easier in the long run. Go back to the clip files often and review them. Which school do you most want to be associated with? Why? Have any schools lost any luster? You'll reap the rewards from doing such a comprehensive search. Those rewards will come in the form of the identification of a school that really interests you and you will be armed with powerful knowledge that will assist you in writing an application that will really be of great interest to the school.

The dream of being able to make money at home is something which is well within reach. However, you have to implement the proper strategy to make it come to fruition. It is incredible once one begins to investigate the issue of online safety just how many dangers there are that could seriously affect the safety of our children.

I think the dangers of chat rooms and instant messaging on the internet might be two of the top three dangers present, the third being the use of webcams.

It is not that those three online activities are in themselves dangerous but the fact that they are far too often frequented by sexual predators and Cyber Bullies.

The use of these three functions of the internet could provide many hours of good healthy entertainment for your child.

The problem is how to take advantage of this excellent socializing media without falling victim to the dangers present in using them.

I want to go over some of the dangers so that you can determine if you feel your child will be safe in using web chat rooms or instant messengers.

As a preface to this I want to lay out four statistics of importance:

*5 Million Sexual Predators are online at any given time, day or night.

*There is a 50/50 chance the stranger your child is communicating with in a chat room designated for kids is not a child but instead a predator.

*20 percent of our children will be sexually solicited while online

*89 percent of our children sexually solicited will be approached in a chat room or while instant messaging.

Those four statistics from a survey done by a law enforcement website immediately makes me want to grab my kids computer and lock it up.

Unfortunately, we cannot just try and hide from dangers like these.

Your child will also have access to a PC at school, the public library, internet cafes, over their cell phone, or at their friend's house.

Here are some of the dangers to look out for so that you can make sure your children do not fall prey to the dangers present in chat rooms or instant messengers:

*There is the anonymity of the person they are communicating with. It has to be stressed to your son or daughter that there is no way of knowing the age, sex, or intentions of the stranger they are talking to and to be aware that they cannot trust such relationships.

*Screen names that are used for their profiles and log-ins can cause a security risk. Improperly created they can allow a predator to locate information about your child that can lead to severe security risks.

**Make sure the screen name is unique for every site they log into.

**Be sure the screen name does not use any part of their real name or their email address. Do not use any part of physical address including state, city, street, or zip code.

*Information security is a must. Never give out your email address over the net. Never give out your phone number, cell phone number, name, address, the school you attend, etc... You do not want to provide any information that can allow a stranger to identify or locate you.

*Profile photos are another major risk. Do not under any circumstances use a photo of yourself on the web sites. Do not email or post your photo for anyone to see over the net.

*Chat rooms and instant messengers are a good avenue for predators to attempt to hack into your personal computer. Make sure you have the proper internet security and fire walls set up to prevent this from occurring.

*Avoid services that allow for private messages or private chat rooms. These are the two favorite devices used by predators to isolate their prey and take advantage of them.

*Do not use a webcam in the online chat rooms or instant messengers. They are the favorite tool of the internet sexual predator!

*Make sure they realize they are to inform you immediately of any communication that takes place that is:

**Sexually oriented and invasive

**Harassing or abusive in nature

**Makes them feel uneasy or concerned in any way

*Educate your child on how to "lock out" or "Ignore" conversations that are inappropriate (and make sure the chat room they use has this feature!).

*Make sure that your child is aware of the rules! Have consequences set in case they do not follow the rules of online safety for these services.

If you make sure your kids follow these procedures then it will greatly eliminate the dangers of chat rooms and instant messaging for them on the internet.

Another major danger of internet chat rooms and forums is what is referred to as Cyber Bullying.

One in three children on the internet becomes a victim of a Cyber Bully.

Cyber Bullying can be a traumatic event for your child.

There has been an increase in the number of children committing suicide as a result of Cyber Bullying (Cyber Bullycide).

Anyone who takes a good look at internet marketing, including its advantages and disadvantages, can clearly see that affiliate programs are among the upper echelon of ways to make money online. You are going to have a challenging time finding another program which is willing to compensate you with up to 80% of the gross revenue that is generated from every sale that you make of a product which you do not even own. Just realize that this such generous revenue sharing is not offered by every affiliate program out there. An direct advantage of this fact, is that you do not incur the expenses of developing a marketable product, and the risk of not recouping your money. Furthermore, you do not hold the responsibilities of collecting payments, issuing returns, delivering products or services, or providing customer service. All that you are required to do is market and make sales which are tracked via link which is assigned uniquely to you.

Do not think for a moment that it is only the affiliate marketer who benefits from affiliate programs. These programs are a major benefit to the advertiser as well. Just think about it for a moment. An advertiser is in a great position because they need only pay for marketing when a sale is made by the affiliate. If the affiliate does not make any sales, they pay nothing. Meanwhile their product or service is still gaining exposure on the market.

Just realize that when it comes down to any online business, affiliate marketing included, your success comes down to your promotional methods. Thus, you must make sure that you are marketing the right offers to the right market. It is of the utmost importance that you identify a niche market with a need, and make sure that you provide this niche market with offers that offer solutions to their needs. If you fail to do this, you will not have any success in internet marketing. Grades tell it all. They are the measuring stick by which you will be judged when it comes to life during and after law school. Take this analogy for example: Every year, the National Football League holds a draft, in which the top collegiate players are chosen to play professional football. And if you know anything about this, you know that players from top college football programs generally have a greater chance of being drafted simply because of the strong reputation their program carries. While the reputation and prestige of your school will land you more job interviews, it will be your grades, participation on law review and/or moot court and summer clerkship experience that will land you the job. That said, you need to understand law school exams. Not only are law school exams nothing like you've ever come across, they will, the majority of times, be the sole determiner of your grades. The worst part being that generally most classes will only offer one exam per semester, which will be the final exam. Generally, there will not be midterms, graded assignments or credit for class participation.

Law school exams are for the most part entirely composed of essays. They present long, convoluted hypothetical fact patters full of legal issues. Your job will be to simply spot the issues, state the law and analyze the facts. Many times professors aren't looking for an exact answer, rather, your analysis in reaching your conclusion based upon the facts and the law. To succeed on law school exams, it will be imperative that you understand the law, but just as important, how to analyze issues and organize an argument.

The admissions committee at any law school looks at your application (which includes transcripts, LSAT scores, recommendations, and personal statement), they essentially seek the answer to one single question: Can this person succeed at this school, and will he actually make a good lawyer upon graduating?

However, as the admissions committee members get to your essay, their focus shifts from objective to subjective analysis. For instance, often admissions officers say that they look to the essays to feel that they've come to know a real human being, his personality and character. In this subjective setting, officers often say that they look for someone they feel that they know, understand, and most importantly, spend three years of the law school with.

These are the three essential ingredients of a successful law school admission essay:

1. Writing/Communication Skills

A no-brainer when it comes to admissions essays. As an attorney, you are expected to have above-par, even exceptional communication skills.

The admission essay, thus, is a perfect platform to showcase these skills.

Of course, your essay doesn't have to appear as the work of a future Pulitzer prize winning author, but as a future lawyer, judge, or politician. The ability to present ideas skillfully is the essential to success in the legal profession, and good writing is a very strong indicator of these communication skills.

At the J.D. level, good writing skills are expected in a candidate. A typo, a single grammatical mistake, a factual error - little, oblivious mistakes could cost you a spot at a law school. While a beautifully written essay won't singularly get you inside a law school, a poorly written one might cost you the admission.

The admissions officer basically looks at the essay and asks: Does the candidate have a strong command of the English language? Solid writing style and organizational abilities?

Provide the answer to these questions, and you'll have one foot inside the college door.

2. Motivation

The admissions committee expects your essay to answer an obvious question: Why?

Why do you want to apply to this college and not that college? Why do you think you'll make a good addition to our student body? Why do you think you'll make a good lawyer?

In other words, the committee is looking for your motivation to getting into the law school.

Did you decide on a whim, or because you made a drunken bet with your friend that you could get into law school. Or maybe you want to impress your family, or perhaps its been a lifelong dream of yours to be an attorney.

In other words, your reasons for getting into law school, thus, have to be strong enough to support your application. A drunken bet with friends will not actually cut it, nor will an artificial reason like impressing family/girlfriend/etc.

The law school wants to know that you really want to get inside, that you really want to be a lawyer.

Your single, individual goal in the essay, thus, is to prove to the admissions officer that you belong to their school, that you've worked hard to get this far, and that you'll continue doing so once you get inside. That you're committed, motivated to be Juris Doctor from your chosen law school.

3. A Real Person

As mentioned earlier, above anything, the admissions committee members seek out character and personality in the essay. In other words, the committee members want to believe that they are reading the personal statement of a real, live human being.

The admissions committee has never seen you. They haven't ever spoken to you. Whatever they know about you is what is recorded in your transcripts, factual information in your application, and most importantly, what is written in your personal statement.

The personal statement, thus, becomes the window to your personality, your character. Its the way you communicate with the admissions officer, woo him, in fact. When asked, admissions officers will often give you varied advice (be honest, be unique, etc.), that all essentially means one thing: Be Yourself!

This is, in a way, the exact same advice you would be given while dating.

Imagine the plight of the admissions officers: thumbing through countless stacks of essays, all boring, all penned down mechanically. Then, when he comes across a beautifully crafted essay that speaks to him, connects to him, interests him, you can be sure that he will start leaning in your favor.

Combine all these elements, and you'll have a winner of a law school admissions essay on your hands, one that can charm the hardest of admissions committee and bag you a seat at that law school you've been eying since your undergrad days.
